Hebrews 10:23–25 (ESV)

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Reflection

Some mornings your grip on hope feels weak. You wake up tired, discouraged, maybe still carrying yesterday’s failure, and the thought of holding anything “without wavering” feels like a joke. If hope depended on your strength to hold it, you’d have reason to despair.

But look closely at the verse. It doesn’t say hold fast because you’re strong. It says hold fast “for he who promised is faithful.” Your hope isn’t secured by the firmness of your grip, it’s secured by the character of the One who made the promise. God’s faithfulness doesn’t fluctuate with your emotions, your performance, or your spiritual energy level. He holds you even on the days you can barely hold on to Him.

This is exactly why God gives us each other. He never intended you to walk this out alone, white-knuckling your faith in isolation. He designed the church, imperfect, inconvenient, sometimes irritating people, as one of His chosen means of grace. He uses the encouragement of a friend, the honesty of a small group, the ordinary gathering on a given day, to stir love and good works in you when you have little left to offer on your own.

So today, let someone speak truth into your weariness. Let yourself need other believers. And rest in this: your hope stands not because you’re faithful, but because He is.

Lord, when my grip is weak, remind me that Yours never is. Give me the humility to need Your people today.
